• Only those who have the ability to forecast the future would be able to answer your question unfortunately Jahan, with that said. There still appears to be a lot of QS roles being advertised so I would take that as a positive https://www.seek.com.au/jobs?keywords=quality+surveyer

  • Hi chaturanga, we’d need a crystal ball to be able to answer this question with any certainty, unfortunately.

I expect we should have a better idea in approx May of this year as the Australian Government starts to collect reports from the various industry bodies for the 2017 – 2018 SOL.

  • Hi Stewart and sorry for the delay.

Firstly congrats on th birth of the bub! That’s great news! :)

The short answer is yes, your baby can return however you will need to apply for a 101 child visa to add them under your PR.

More information about the process can be located here:

Hi Jacqueline, firstly. Congrats on being granted your visa. That’s great news!!

With regards to self-employment, you would need to register an ABN (Australian Business Number) and have any earnings paid into an associated business account.

With regards to tax, within Australia, if you are self employed, there is the option to make Pay as you…[Read more]

Hi Jas and sorry for the delay.

If the extra points are based on period of employment then you should qualify for the extra points. However with regards to the occupation ceiling, once the ceiling has been reached no further invites will be offered for this occupation until the following immigration term (1st July 2017 onwards)

  • Hi Jo, short answer is we won’t know if the role will be removed until later in the year when the submissions are made to Parliment.

With regards to the numbers, yes they are most certainly taken into account.

    Best wishes

  • Hi, your baby will have the same temporary residency status as yourselves. You will need to add him/her to your 457 visa. You would need to have permanent residency for your child to become an Australian citizen by birth. Hope this helps

Just wanted to wish you all a very happy new year. I hope 2017 proves to be an exciting year for everyone!!! :)

Hi Derek, being on the SOL or CSOL is a prerequisite of being able to acquire a skilled visa, if these roles are not on the current list you’ll need to wait until the new SOL / CSOL lists are released later this year to see if this situation is likely to change.

    All the best

Hi Nuper, the current SOL is valid until 1st July this year so in theory you are ‘safe’ to apply up to this time assuming, of course, the number of places available for this role have not already been filled.

With regards to the likelihood of removal, its very difficult to say unfortunately.

Is this for an Australian company? You will normally receive one tax certificate annually (normally around July)

    • Thanks Mark for your comment. It is a Nigerian company. What I really need to understand is what documents can make up employment documentary evidence. Apart from reference letter.

      • Also between HR supervisor and Departmental Manager, who is in the best position to endorse the reference letter?

  • Hi William, having a role on the SOL is a pre-requisite for most skilled visa classes unfortunately.

Mechanic based roles are on the SOL, do you have any transferable skills?

  • Mark posted a new activity comment 3 months ago

I guess it comes down to how transferable the skills are.

Take a look at the skillset associated with the Chemical Engineering role you would be assessed against as ultimatelyu this will govern if your current experience would help you qualify.
