Launched this week, the new 491 Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa will enable eligible skilled workers, and their families to live, work and study in designated regional areas of Australia for five years.
We’ve already written a few articles about the 491 Visa and in the spirit of keeping things simple; we thought we’d include a summary of some of the key features that the Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491) has to offer migrants looking to call Australia home.
Key features of Skilled Work Regional visa (subclass 491):

Other Resources: The official webpage on the Australian Immigration Website for this visa type can be found here. It is recommended you check this page if you want to check the latest 491 Visa costs which may change from time to time
Is the 491 Visa for you?
Do you think the 491 Visa might be for you? Would three years living in a regional area be of interest to you? Let us know in our comments.

I’m a heavy diesel mechanic, I have been offered a job in WA, but the company can not offer a sponsorship, If I get a 491 visa would I still need to show funds in bank for that visa or is that only if Migrating without a job offer ….
Milka, not under this visa class unfortunately mate. There are options but they revolve around a significant investment or being the partner of someone with Australian PR/Citizenship.

Hi Dean, the company would still need to be an approved employer if you are going to apply under the 491 Visa and you will also need to be invited to apply after completing an EOI as part of Skillselect. It sounds like you may have missed out a couple of steps? Please see the following for the official eligibility criteria and approach. https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-listing/skilled-work-regional-provisional-491/application#Eligibility
