I am From India, Can I get an Australian Working Holiday Visa?
Our most common question from people in India is can they apply for an Australian working holiday visa? Unfortunately it is a short answer, India passport holders are currently not eligible for the Australian working holiday visa scheme. A list of countries that are eligible can be viewed here: How To Apply For An Australian Working Holiday Visa?
Why does Australia not issue working holiday visas to Indian Nationals?
We understand that a person considered an Indian national cannot get a working holiday visa to Australia, as India itself, does not offer it’s own Working Holiday Visa scheme.
All of the nations from which candidates can qualify for a working holiday visa in Australia are also participating in a reciprocal arrangement where they offer working holiday visas to candidates from Australia.
For example, countries such as the France, New Zealand, Canada, U.K and South Africa all offer Working Holiday Visa’s to residents of Australia. India does not provide this working holiday arrangement for overseas candidates.
In the short term, strong public and media lobbying will need to be undertaken by Indian nationals. Only this way will an Australian working holiday visa become an option for an Indian National. and Indian borders
