Hi Mark,

My 457 was issued in April 2017 but only for 18 months as opposed to 24. Since the 457 changes announcement, i'm unsure as to where that leaves me when my visa expires in October 2018.

Will I be able to renew my visa for the final 6 months and then apply for PR as planned?
Will I be moved to the 2 year short-term skilled visa and no longer be able to apply for PR?
Or maybe something else...

I know the situation is likely to change between now and then but I would really appreciate your opinion on what you think is most likely.

Thanks for your help!

Hi Mate, out of interest did you get a job working for a start-up? (A Sponsorship agreement with the Department of Immigration and Border Protection is generally valid for five years, however, start-up businesses will only be approved for 18 months and will need to renew their agreement prior to the expiration of their agreement if they wish to continue sponsoring an overseas worker).
