Looking to move, confused on what my options are

Hi Mark, I am a web designer from the UK and preparing to gain a visa for Australia. I would like to move to Sydney, and have a skill (multimedia specialist) in the medium and long term occupation list. I am also under 30 years old and have 5+ years experience in the field. My boyfriend also lives in Sydney so am really keen to get there as soon as possible. Wondering what you think is the best plan of action for me, and is this just a case of finding a sponsor? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hiya ?

You're ticking a lot of boxes there. How many points do you currently qualify for?

Sponsorship could be an option however given web development could be done remotely I'm unsure if you would find many opportunities in this space especially given the COVID lockdown etc.

Personal question ? Could marriage be on the cards? As a defacto Visa could be an option if your boyfriend is an Australian Citizen or has Australian PR. You'll need to have been together for a couple of years to assist with this visa approach, however.

All the best

Thanks @Mark

That's understandable surrounding web development - my current employer may be able to sponsor me, which is another option, however requires setting up an Australian subsidiary first.

My boyfriend is an Australian citizen, however we have never lived together, have been together for 2 years but go away together for a number of weeks at a time. I have also travelled to Sydney previously, but never lived or worked there. Would this still be grounds for the visa?

Thanks so much.

Appreciated,

Jenn

Just to add to this, I think I have 65 or 75 points, however require an English assessment to show proficient/superior English. Is this a given if you are from the UK and have a bachelors degree, or is the test required by all?

Thanks again.

Maybe an option though based on what you have mentioned this may be tricky. Please see here for more information: https://gettingdownunder.com/australian-de-facto-visa-relationship-proof/

You are considered as having competent English if from the UK, though you can get an additional 20 points if you can qualify for competent English. See here for more info: https://gettingdownunder.com/ielts-score-australia/

Sorry for all the links, however, please let me know if you have any specific questions following a little reading.

Cheers
