hey mark, thx for this blog really helpful. have a question, am a chef with more than 20 years experience, and a couple of awards. worked in NZ for around a year in 2017 and now trying to move permanently to AUS, can you suggest the best website that offers sponsorship jobs in AUS? although i checked the calculator you suggested and i received 70 points on my own without my including my wife's points.... but i think it's easier and better to receive a sponsorship first then take it step by step from there.

thx for any leads

Hi there mate and welcome.

There are very few websites that specialise in Sponsored Jobs in Australia and the majority of them charge a fee for access. To this end, we created our own.  😊

You can find our sponsored jobs database using the link below which has been pulled together using an algorithm to search the main job boards for jobs where the employer has highlighted their willingness to sponsor.

https://gettingdownunder.com/jobs-in-australia/australia-sponsored-jobs/

There are also quite a few Chef related roles listed, however, we also recommend that you set up a job alert for the term 'chef' so we can email you when new roles become available. You can find instructions on setting job alerts by following the link in my signature below.

Hope this helps!

Regards

Hi @charbel-aoun, pre-tax? I would say it's doable however depending on your expected standard of living, it may be a stretch.

I have never lived in Canberra but understand it is one of the more expensive states in Australia.

Doing a little research I found the following which should serve as a good reference point:

https://www.budgetdirect.com.au/interactives/costofliving/in/canberra/

Based on this the average net salary is $5087 (AUD) per month. This equates to approx $7300 per month or $87,600 (before tax).

Take a look at the page I have linked to, to work out some of the average costs for 'stuff' to get a better idea of where your money may go.

Hope this helps

@charbel-aoun no probs. I do think it's doable but you also want to at least enjoy living here instead of worrying about cash all the time.

Other states may be a cheaper option for you.

Cheers
