Job description: The Community Engagement & Development Officer is a flexible role and will be tailored to the successful candidate. Below is a list of possible skills and attributes, but all those with passion and drive are invited to apply. We’re soliciting expressions of interest from members of the community looking to join a high-functioning, hard-working team focused on addressing climate change and increasing biodiversity in WA.

Salary range: $40,000-$50,000 depending on skills and experience, plus Superannuation

Potential areas of responsibility include:

  • Nurturing relationships with our member groups and supporting their initiatives
  • Developing an external community engagement program and championing its implementation
  • Event planning and logistical work
  • Pursuing sponsorship opportunities
  • Assisting with grant acquisition
  • Assisting with volunteer recruitment and management
  • Identifying, developing and supporting the implementation of initiatives which aid in the development of CCWA’s programs
  • Coordinate CCWA support and collaboration for auspiced and allied campaigns/organisations throughout WA
  • Aid in the timely release of response statements to government and industry announcements or actions
  • Build relationships with our allies throughout WA and Australia

The successful candidate will have some of the following skills and experiences:

  • Excellent and demonstrable track record organising or working on large-scale events and/or event programs
  • Experience working with members or member groups within a non-profit
  • Experience developing successful grant applications
  • Knowledge of advocacy work, particularly as related to climate change and conservation
  • Keen understanding or interest in West Australian & Australian politics
  • Experience working alongside First Nations people in Western Australia
  • Knowledge of program management
  • Impeccable written communication skills, especially in political and advocacy-related writing
  • Experience writing media releases and/or good social media skills
  • Understanding of organising theory and campaign strategy
  • Experience working alongside First Nations people in Western Australia, experience in decolonisation work
