  • Located on the Darlington Campus at the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering
  • Full-time Level A, fixed term 12 Months with a base salary of $93K-$103K p.a., plus leave loading and a generous employer’s contribution to superannuation

About the opportunity

Reporting to Dr Agisilaos Kourmatzis and Professor Hak-Kim Chan, the Postdoctoral Research Associate position will engage in experimental work which may include development of new hardware and software as well as data processing and analysis. The research associate, working with the chief and partner investigators, will drive experimental design and development, and take leadership in generating high quality research output. The candidate is expected to both apply existing experimental techniques and design new in-house experiments to study the fundamental dynamics of aerosols using advanced imaging technologies. Research will take place in the school of AMME, the school of Pharmacy, as well as with collaborators. Experimental tools and facilities available to both Schools of Pharmacy and School of AMME are state of the art.

  • has a PhD qualification or is about to submit a PhD in a topic related to laser diagnostics, imaging, aerosols, fluid mechanics, or chemical engineering
  • is experienced in experimental rig design and development including hardware/software interfacing (e.g. advanced LabVIEW/Matlab user). Preference will be given to candidates who have significant experience in the development of new laser and optical diagnostic techniques applied to fluid mechanics or aerosol problems
  • demonstrated experience in conducting and publishing high quality research in one or more of the following areas: Particle Engineering, Laser and/or Optical Diagnostics, Fluid Dynamics, Pharmaceutics, Inhalers
  • has a high level of written and oral communication
  • an ability to work independently and as part of a successful research team with focus on collaborative and participative research practices.
