Mackay – Queensland Australia – Travel Video Guide

Mackay is a city in Queensland, on Australia’s east coast. Off the coast is a section of the Great Barrier Reef. Closer to shore are the islands of St. Bees, with reefs, rainforest and koalas, and Keswick, rich in marine life. Mackay itself is known for its Harbour Beach, marina and Bluewater Lagoon, a city water park. Inland from Mackay, Eungella National Park is a habitat for rare frogs and platypus.

We stopped in to check out some of the great natural experiences that can be enjoyed in Mackay and its surrounds. We started with a trip to Cape Hillsborough where we spotted a couple of Kangaroos on the beach. Pretty amazing stuff!

We then headed into the Eungella national park to check out some of their rainforest walks. After we explored these magnificent forests we decided to head down to a locals hot spot Finch Hatton Gorge for a nice refreshing swim!

Hi AustralianWild. Thanks for that piece of info. It sounds like a stunning spot, we will definitely have to check it out when we are there next. Are the mountains easy to find? That is awesome that you saw a dugong on the beach, they are amazing but so elusive. It is such a beautiful spot, especially when you get out of the city. Thanks :)

The most spectacular feature a out Mackay is the airport, the departure lounge! The place is full of bogans. If you don't bet on the races, play the pokies or spend most of your life in the pub, then Mavkay is not the place for you. And I was born and raised here.

'You could spend days exploring the 20km worth of walking tracks'…. no you could spend 2.5 hours, that's how long it takes to walk 20km…. not days
