Australian Migration Program Closes Indefinitely – 190/491/189 Visas Impacted

The new Australian migration program year was due to start a week ago with the Federal Government releasing 189, 190 and 491 visa quotas for the 2020-21 year. However, at the time of typing, the Department of Home Affairs has not given the state governments their new General Skilled Migration (GSM) quotas for the new migration year. This means that the GSM program will not open from 1 July 2020 as planned.

A knock-on effect is that the Australian State and Territories cannot open their program until the Federal Government quotas are allocated. The GSM 2020/21 program year is scheduled to re-open from early August, however, changes to the composition of the Australian Migration program might be made in October under the new budget.

Due to the Coronavirus, the date for Federal Budget 2020-2021 has been delayed by the Federal Government – it will be handed down in Parliament on 6 October. The Federal Treasurer has advised that he will provide an update on the economic and fiscal outlook on 23 July.

Migration Program Australia – Will I be Impacted?

There are no impacts on those who already hold 189, 190 and 491 visas. Applicants who have previously received invitations will also not be affected.Applicants who have lodged EOIs and have not been invited may be affected by the delays.

  1. Australia is a regular Colonial vassal state. If you hail from the right Stuff you are mickey mouse. If you migrate from a colonial part of the world or other, forget Australia. Australia is extremely racist. Aussie born whites are it.
Brits are Poms,Americans are Yanks, Canadians are Kanoots, Greeks are wops, Italians are Dings, Germans are Krouts, French are Frogs, Indians are curry munchers, Asians are all slopes, Africans are all n@#*rs.
The racist theme began in Australia with the near destruction of their first nation people. It’s now 2020 and nothing has changed in over 200 years of invasions. The ”whites” set policy and everyone else abides.
Australia has been good for me because I am white. I speak the jargon, I do as Rome does. I look and seem Aussie, but I am German born.
I got good jobs because of my excellent English(read aussie)and ability to BS at interviews. Unless you already have a sound network in Australia don’t waste your time coming here. The joint is a huge Hoax!! It’s super expensive and you must have your own transport to survive(it’s a vast country!!)
If you’ve got super thick skin, knock yourself out. I was lucky, I got modified thru 12 years of British schooling around the old Empire days.
Today I relax on an Aussie pension with super top ups. Those born after 1967 won’t even get a pension after 50 years of labour, but will still pay the same taxes I paid all my working life. Life was hard B4 covid, life just got insane since. From where I’m standing, the Dream is dead in Oz, it’s been dying since 1970!! If you choose to come, best of luck to you.

    • Hi mate, though I don’t agree with all of your sentiments I certainly respect your opinion. Fair to say your insight serves as a different picture to those painted publically by the Aussie government seeking migrants to move down under. I have seen many glimpses of the racism you reference but I’m also surrounded by many people who frown at this type of sentiment and behaviours. It’s a mixed bunch I guess.

  2. Hi thanks for info.. Just wondering do you think the pools will open again beg August. I’m planning on placing an EOI for South Australia as youth worker. I’m 45 in September so don’t have much time..
