Rottnest Island – How to Make the Most of your Day Trip from Perth

Rottnest Island is just off the coast of Perth, Western Australia and home to some of the most beautiful and secluded beaches in the world.

A protected nature reserve, it’s home to the quokka, a small wallaby-like marsupial. White-sand beaches and secluded coves include the Basin, with its shallow waters, and Thomson Bay, the main hub and ferry port.

In this guide, I show you the best days to go, the best way to get around and the best places to stop off. Enjoy!

  1. Thank you for the video, this has so much information to prep me for the trip.
Quick question: for the snorkeling at salmon bay, are there any shops/station to rent the gears? Or do I have to bring my own googles as snorkeling?

  2. I'm currently trying to plan a surprise day trip to Rottnest for my boyfriends birthday, I had no idea what to do when we got there and this video has helped me soo much!! I'm going to try and follow in your exact footsteps, it looks like the perfect day :) THANK YOU!
