The Australian government has just published the results of the April 2020 Invitation rounds. These results are useful as it provides insight into the number of points you would require if applying for an Australian visa independently. If you are not sure how many points you might qualify for, check out our handy Australian points calculator here.
April sees the impact of COVID-19 really starting to bite with 50 invitations issued for applicants under the Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189) and 50 invitations under the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) – Family-Sponsored visa stream.
Conversely, the number of points required was also high with 95 points being the lowest points score required to receive an Invitation across both e 189 and subclass 491 visa types. The breakdown by visa type can be viewed below:
Given the end of the 2019/2020 program year is only a couple of months away, and there is still an apparent backlog of lodged applications, we anticipate these volumes will likely remain for the invitation rounds planned in May 2020 and June 2020.
We will then hopefully be back to the long term average of 1000 per month for the 2020/21 program year commencing July 1.
