Throw Another Shrimp On The Barbie Video

Western Australia VideoYay. It’s Friday. I hope you’ve all had a good week and are ready for the weekend ahead?

Its forecast to be a steamy one here in Perth this weekend. Since the crazy weather we had last weekend the weather this week has been quite pleasant with cool nights returning and day time temps in the 30’s.

30C+ is still pretty warm but here in Perth, if you work in the CBD like I do and get in the office for about 7am (ish) you miss most of the heat, instead enjoying your day in a nicely air conditioned office. Sure, it’s still pretty hot at 4:30/5pm when you finish for the day, but that’s also beer-o-clock so that’s different! ;-)

On the subject of weather it looks like the hot weather we received here in Perth last week has made its way over east with Melbourne and Adelaide hitting record temps. Unfortunately they’ve also experienced bush fires over east so my thoughts are with those really struggling with the conditions. Being out of the bush and in a relatively safe suburb, it’s quite easy to take what we have for granted really!

In other news, I was going to find a touristy ad to sell the wonders of Australia (not that you’ll need it I’m sure). Instead however I’m going to post an ad made famous by Mr Crocodile Dundee, Paul Hogan back in — wait for it — 1984!!

Ever wondered where the term “throw another shrimp on the barbie” came from? Its right there in the video above. Still looks good doesn’t it?

I hope you all have a great weekend. This weekend the missus and I are hoping to get a little beach time.

City Beach Perth

We’ve not been to the beach for ages and although it’s forecast to be pretty warm as I mentioned in this post, going to the beach can be a great way to keep a little cooler as you get a great sea breeze off the ocean. We’ll likely head on up to a place called City Beach about 15 minutes from where we live. It goes on for miles so we’ll be sure to find a quiet spot for a sun bake and a dip in the warm Indian ocean.

Sure, we won’t be going there peek time, but if we can get up early enough, I can think of worst places to see in the weekend.

Happy Friday all
